Hygiene tips

Once you start preparing foods for your baby, you need to think carefully about hygiene as their immature gut and immune system are more susceptible to infections. Here are some tips to help:

  • Wash your (and your baby’s) hands before you prepare and feed them
  • Sterilise feeding bowls and spoons until your baby is 6 months and then wash in the dishwasher or very hot water
  • Use clean tea towels or paper towels to dry your baby’s feeding equipment
  • Wash high chairs, bibs and eating areas in hot soapy water and/or give them a wipe with a suitable antibacterial cleaner
  • Keep all kitchen surfaces as clean as you can and don’t forget the floor when your baby is on the move!
