Planning & Pregnancy

Pregnant woman

Second Trimester (12-23 weeks)

What's happening ?

Mum

  • Your bump begins to show – and everyone knows the fantastic news about your pregnancy!
  • Time to think about maternity leave, whether or not you’ll go back to work and, if you are going to go back to work, childcare.
  • Ask your midwife about registering for antenatal classes – and look out for antenatal exercise or swimming classes, which are a great way to stay fit and meet other new mums-to-be.
  • You’ll notice your baby moving about as what starts off as a slight fluttering gradually becomes full-scale kicks!

Baby

  • By 13 weeks, your baby is fully formed.
  • By 23 weeks, he is 23 cm long and covered in fine hair, which disappears before or just after birth.

Dad

  • Make the most of your last weeks as a couple by treating your partner to a romantic weekend away – or devote a couple of days to pampering your partner in the comfort of your home.
