First
Trimester (1-11 weeks)
What's
happening ?
Mum
Missed period
Symptoms of early pregnancy, such as morning sickness, tender breasts, cravings, tiredness and tears.
Pregnancy confirmed by your GP so you can be ‘booked in’ for antenatal care.
By the end of the first trimester, you might be able to make out the outline of your bump.
Baby
Your baby starts off as a single cell but after only 12 weeks, your baby’s organs have formed, his body has developed arms, legs and tiny fingers and his face is taking shape.
There will be movement around in your womb, although your baby is still too small for you to feel anything.
By the end of the first trimester of pregnancy, he is 7 cm long.
